This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Maemoe collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. Maemoe is operated by Sansa Technologies ("Sansa", "we", "us"). Reach us at support@sansatech.com with any privacy request.
1. Who we are
Maemoe is an iOS application built and operated by Sansa Technologies. For questions about this policy or about how your data is handled, contact us at support@sansatech.com. If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom, you may also contact our privacy address at the same email.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information: email address, display name, and Apple ID identifier used for sign-in with Apple. If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, Apple proxies your real address and we only receive the proxy.
- Audio you record: the meetings you choose to record using Maemoe. Recording is only active when you start it.
- Content you create: edits, tags, notes, exports, and meeting titles.
- Support content: anything you include when you contact support.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and diagnostics: device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and performance telemetry. Used to keep the app stable.
- Usage data: anonymous analytics on how features are used (e.g. whether the Action Button starts recording) so we know what to improve.
- Subscription status: your Apple In-App Purchase receipt so we can confirm your plan. The receipt is processed by Apple; we do not receive your credit card details.
2.3 Information we do not collect
- We do not access your contacts, photos, calendar, location, or microphone outside of the recording moments you start.
- We do not fingerprint you across unrelated apps.
- We do not receive your payment card details. Apple handles billing.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above only for the following purposes:
- To deliver the service: transcribe your recordings, generate summaries and structured notes, let you browse and search your own history, sync across your own devices.
- To support you: respond to your emails and resolve issues you raise.
- To keep the app working: diagnose crashes and performance regressions.
- To honor legal obligations: comply with tax, accounting, and law-enforcement requests that are legally valid.
4. AI processing, in plain language
When you record a meeting, Maemoe sends the audio and, for some features, the resulting transcript to a third-party AI provider that we contract for transcription and summarization. We require that provider to:
- Process your content only to fulfill our request (generate your notes).
- Not retain your content beyond what is needed to return the result, plus a short operational window for reliability.
- Not use your content to train any AI model.
Once your notes are generated, Maemoe discards the raw audio file. The transcript and structured notes are kept in your account until you delete them. If you delete a meeting, the transcript is removed from our systems within 30 days, including backups.
5. Legal bases (EU/UK residents)
We process personal data under the following GDPR legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the Maemoe service you signed up for (transcription, summaries, account).
- Legitimate interest: to keep the app secure, diagnose crashes, and prevent abuse.
- Consent: for optional analytics and any marketing messages. You can withdraw consent at any time in-app or by emailing us.
- Legal obligation: to comply with tax, accounting, and lawful requests.
6. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Maemoe, under written contracts that require them to protect the data and process it only on our instructions:
- Transcription and summarization provider (AI): processes your audio and transcripts to generate your notes.
- Cloud hosting provider: stores your account and transcripts at rest.
- Crash reporting provider: receives anonymized crash logs.
- Apple: processes your In-App Purchase and subscription.
We may disclose information if we are compelled to by a valid legal process (for example a subpoena), to protect the rights and safety of users, or in connection with a merger or acquisition, in which case you will be notified.
7. How long we keep your data
- Raw audio: discarded as soon as transcription completes. Never retained.
- Transcripts and notes: kept until you delete them. Removed from backups within 30 days of deletion.
- Account information: kept for the life of your account, plus up to 12 months after closure for tax and audit records.
- Crash logs: kept for up to 90 days.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of the following rights:
- Access: see what personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: fix information that is wrong.
- Deletion: ask us to remove your personal data.
- Portability: receive your data in a commonly used format.
- Objection / restriction: ask us to pause or stop certain processing.
- Do Not Sell or Share (California and similar): we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context advertising.
You can delete any meeting directly inside Maemoe. To exercise other rights, email support@sansatech.com. We respond within 30 days. If you believe we are mishandling your data, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
Maemoe is not intended for children under 13, or under 16 in the European Union. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, email support@sansatech.com and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Maemoe is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the service from the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data transfer restrictions, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
11. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest. See our Security page for more detail.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes we will post the updated policy here and, for significant changes, notify you inside the app or by email before they take effect.
